Although I started this post on January 16, I just realized I never finished it... so it's a little late, but here's a few things to share...2012 started off with a bang, literally, here in Dubai! We were told by lots of friends that although the Burj Khalifa was magnificent to go see on New Year's Eve, the traffic and crowds may be more than we want to bargain for. So, taking their advice, we celebrated with a nice dinner with friends here in our apartment building. THEN, just before midnight, we walked outside and waited for the amazement of fire in the sky to begin and boy did it ever. We live about 15-20 miles from the Burj Khalifa, but when it 's the tallest building in the world, an you live in a desert, then you can still see if fairly well! So fireworks were shot from the actual building in every color and with every design imaginable... absolutely amazing, but that's what we've come to know about Dubai... the bigger, the more expensive, the more elaborate, the more, MORE, MORE the Better!!! We were thinking that perhaps next year we could get more up close and personal, but after we heard that there were more than 600,000 people downtown, this small-town family decided that the view we had was probably enough for us!
